Pastel Swirls by JoycelynSiew Pastel Swirls by JoycelynSiew
I got a set of HiTech filters for my birthday. Went down to my local beach to give the ND 1.2 a try. There weren't any clouds in my area, but a whole shelf on the horizon, which the sun went behind, so there was no spectacular display. Still, I was pretty surprised (and quite pleased) with how this turned out, considering the waves crashing in were huge (and unsettlingly close).

I read and appreciate all comments and critiques :aww:

It was a 30 second exposure, so the photo was taken over 30s, giving the waves time to smooth out.

We, the viewers of your photo, are very lucky that you decided to go down to your local beach to try out your new ND 1.2. This photo shot stands out as one of the best I have ever seen. You even captured the seagulls in the right background.
The colors are fabulous! The mist swerving around the rock is an awsome sight to behold and the serene sky blending into everything makes for a sensational Photo Shot. Indeed worth an A+. Great Photography ~

Thanks so much for the :+fav: and the very poetic comment =p There aren't any seagulls in the shot though, they're just tiny little rocks ;P But I guess the appeal in this shot is that everything blends together you can't quite tell what's what.

How was the color cast on them? was it crazy or not so bad? Could you link me to a straight from camera shot?

I have not heard of HiTech filters having colour casts. I can't say for sure myself, since I've only used it once. I did notice that the longer exposures had more colour than I actually saw (it looked all grey to me), but I believe that's more to do with my camera picking up more light over time than with a colour cast.

This shot was only 8s, and the original was overexposed, so you won't be able to see any colour casts. Here's an unedited 30s exposure though: [link]

Most likely you saw more colors because the camera was able to suck all of it in. Thank you for your reply, i am goimg to pick up a set soon. Where did they get them from?

Straight from the HiTech website: formatt.co.uk
I couldn't find any resellers here in Perth, but you might be able to on your side of the world.
